Vygotsky's Mediational Means (09' 20") [AjesCandon, CL]
Tools, Memory & Internalisation. An informal game-experiment based upon Leontiev's 'Forbidden Colours' experiment. A bilingual 6 year-old boy (Japanese-Spanish) uses flash cards to remember the names of some animals and a set of animals in Spanish and then moves onto recognising and remembering those animals using their written names (letter recognition), though he cannot read yet. Words (oral and written), flash cards, pictures and a laptop are all mediational tools used in this experience.
